An online bookie is refunding bets on the Wimbledon tennis finals because this year’s results were so WEIRD.
Boylesports — an Irish bookmaker founded by John Boyle in 1989 — made the decision after a ladies singles tournament which saw almost ALL the top players knocked out by outsiders, including crowd-pleaser Maria Sharapova. The eventual final was strictly a family affair between sisters Venus and Serena Williams.
Boylesports say only single bets on the Mens’ and Ladies’ singles tournaments placed BEFORE the start of Wimbledon fortnight will be refunded.
Betting has already opened on next year’s mens’ competition, with this year’s finalists Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer joint favourites at 6/4. Boylesports are also offering a £200 bonus for new accounts.
