Internet gambling firms are among those battling for the rights to turn this summer’s blockbuster movie titles into online games.

Among the big successes so far has been the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider films, but titles like The Dark Knight and The Mummy III are seen by slots programmers as one of the best ways to generate buzz and player attendance.

Movie Magic

Cashing in on past glories, PartyGaming recently launched slots based on old favourites like Mission: Impossible and Saturday Night Fever.

A new deal with distributors Studio Canal will bring two more oldies — The Terminator and Rambo — and The Godfather and Top Gun are also in the pipeline.

PartyGaming boss Jim Ryan said: “Creating unique and exclusive themed content is a key element of our strategy because the power of popular international brands and their ability to add substantial value to our game portfolio is clear.”
