Just HOURS after a study by respected academics urged an end to the ban on internet gambling in America, a US Congressman has tabled a Bill to legalise online casinos as a way of funding job creation in depressed areas.
Washington Democrat Jim McDermot reckons legal web wagers could provide as much as £20 BILLION to help jobseekers and underprivileged kids in foster care.
Lost Revenue
The Bill, HR6501, also known as the Investing In Our Human Resources Act (IHRA),was “an ideal opportunity to invest billions of dollars in American workers and our struggling economy without increasing the Federal deficit,” said McDermott in a prepared statement.
The new law “would protect consumers and collect tax revenue that is currently offshore,” he added.
A clause in the legislation also encourages responsible online gambling practices and an awareness of unsafe practices.
